‘A society for all’ – GP Rehab

“A society where everyone lives equally.”

Thus goes The Great Physician Foundation Inc. (GP Rehab) shares their vision. GP Rehab is a non-governmental organization for special children or persons with disabilities.

GP Rehab Executive Director and President Analou Suan told a group of campus journalists in Dumaguete City that it is ‘us’ who oftentimes make wrong impressions to persons with disabilities. People tend to pity on disabled persons, she said.

According to Suan, persons with disabilities do not feel the way people perceived them. The executive director extended that differently able persons also have their queries with them on how and why they have such.

She related that GP Rehab gives therapy and educates children with disabilities. She confided that they cater children 18 years old and below. Suan disclosed that children with disabilities go to special education classes. After some training, they will be joining the regular class, she continued.

The talk was part of the two-day online journalism seminar workshop in Silliman University last April 22-23, 2010.
